چکیده

Colibacillosis, caused by enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC), is one of the most common diseases in rabbit farms, resulting economic losses due to mortality and decrease production. Until recently, antimicrobials were used both treat prevent disease on livestock leading possible risk antimicrobial resistance (AMR) selection multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria. Therefore, interest alternative control methods, such as use natural substances, has increased scientific community. The aim this study was evaluate efficacy Phyto-L (Pro Tech s.r.l.), a product containing organosulfur compounds (OSCs) propyl propane thiosulfonate (PTSO) from Allium spp., against 108 strains E. isolated rabbits with colibacillosis 19 farms. minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) bactericidal (MBC) assessed. Bacterial suspensions charge CFU/mL, corresponding those found gut under pathologic conditions, tested different concentrations 20 0.15 μL/mL Phyto-L. For each strain, MIC above plated Tryptic Soy agar (TSA) without assess MBCs. MBC values ranged 1.25 5 μL/mL, respectively, depending strain tested. data showed an interesting antibacterial activity EPEC strains. could be effective preventing field application, especially considering that 104–105 CFU/g feces amount usually contents physiological condition.

Phylogenetic analysis of Escherichia coli strains isolated from human samples

Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a normal inhabitant of the gastrointestinal tract of vertebrates, including humans. Phylogenetic analysis has shown that E. coli is composed of four main phylogenetic groups (A, B1, B2 and D). Group A and B1 are generally associated with commensals, whereas group B2 is associated with extra-intestinal pathotypes. Most enteropathogenic isolates, however, are assigne...

Biotypes of enteropathogenic Escherichia coli strains from rabbits.

Forty-five enteropathogenic (enteropathogenic Escherichia coli-like) strains isolated in commercial rabbit farms were subdivided into four biotypes with the help of six carbohydrate fermentation tests, ornithine decarboxylase tests, and motility tests. E. coli strains which caused neonatal diarrhea in baby rabbits belonged to a single biotype, biotype 1, and displayed the same serotype antigens...

Antagonistic Effects of Lactobacilli spp. against Ciprofloxacin-Resistant Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Strains

Background and Objectives: Recently, the use of probiotics for the treatment of Urinary Tract Infections has become more popular. The use of probiotics in therapy is useful as only a few side effects such as destruction of resistant bacteria or disturbance of the intestinal microbiota have been reported. The aim of this study was to evaluate the probiotic effects of lactic acid bacteria by co-a...

Plants of the Cerrado with antimicrobial effects against Staphylococcus spp. and Escherichia coli from cattle

BACKGROUND Both diarrhea in calves and mastitis in cows limit cattle production. The bacteria involved in these diseases have shown multi-resistance to antimicrobials, however plant metabolites therefore can provide an alternative method of control. This study selected and characterized Cerrado plant extracts showing inhibitory effects against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus spp. from cattl...
